SWIRL’s Karl Zimmermann places fifth at 2021 Head of the Charles Rowing regatta in Boston

Karl Zimmermann, PhD candidate, with former UBC varsity rowing teammates Kevin Chung (cox), Karl Zimmermann (stroke), Mike Anderson, Davey Ross, and Ryan Beach (bow), placed fifth in the alumni coxed fours event at the 57th Head of the Charles regatta in Boston, Massachusetts last week (October 23, 2021). Best Paper Award from International Ultraviolet Association (IUVA)

October 20, 2021

A research article by postdoctoral fellow Dr. Ata Kheyrandish, together with Dr. Madjid Mohseni and Dr. Fariborz Taghipour, recently won the IUVA award for Best Paper: “Classic” UV Paper.  Their article titled “Protocol for Determining Ultraviolet Light Emitting Diode (UV-LED) Fluence for Microbial Inactivation Studies” was recognized for being an important and frequently referenced paper prior to 2019. Fuhar Dixit wins Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence

Ph.D. candidate Fuhar Dixit has been chosen as the inaugural recipient of Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence. This is an award given to the top graduate student in the Faculty of Applied Science at The University of British Columbia to recognize their outstanding academic and research achievements. We celebrated Fuhar’s achievement with a chocolate cake. Congratulations Fuhar!
