A research article by PhD candidate Mahsa Masjoudi, together with Dr. Madjid Mohseni and Dr. James Bolton, was among the resources referenced in a new guidance document published by the Government of British Columbia on “Guidelines for Ultraviolet Disinfection of Drinking Water” (January 2022).
Their article, titled “Sensitivity of bacteria, protozoa, viruses, and other microorganisms to ultraviolet radiation,” contributes towards a better understanding of microorganism resistance to UV treatment and its implications on water system applications. This achievement highlights the impact that SWIRL researchers are making on the water sector, extending beyond academia to policy development and industrial applications. Their paper is published in the Journal of Research of the National Institute of Standards and Technology and can be publicly accessed here. Congratulations Mahsa!
