RES’EAU WaterNET team at BC-Tech Summit 2019

During the 4th annual #BCtech Summit, businesses and entrepreneurs from around Vancouver and BC gathered at the Vancouver Convention Centre from March 11-13. Showcasing UBC technology, the RES’EAU WaterNET team was represented by Dr. Madjid Mohseni, as well as Karl Zimmermann and Sid Bhartia. They were joined by members of UBC’s Emerging Media Lab and representatives from the VP Research and Innovation office.

The group was showcasing the RES’EAU community circle approach for drinking water treatment in small and remote communities, as well as the mobile pilot treatment plant, and new technologies such as Biological Ion Exchange. RES’EAU works alongside partner communities in rural BC to assess a suite of water treatment technologies to propose solutions at a community circle gathering. Alongside existing technologies, grad students in CHBE work to adapt existing, and develop new water treatment technologies. Alongside the community partners, a treatment approach is agreed upon, and the RES’EAU team can help the community with purchasing, install and commissioning of water treatment systems to the point of delivering clean water to kitchen taps.
